And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh (Matthew 2:9-11).
Today is the glorious feast of the Manifestation; today Jesus shows himself to the world as God! It is a day of hope and fulfillment. The Messiah has come and we rejoice because his coming changes the world. As we recover from the busyness of the season, let us look for the star in the heaven of our souls, and let the star lead us to greater generosity of spirit, greater love, and greater union with Jesus. Your life as a mother, your effort to live out this vocation is possible and full of hope because Jesus came. Ask the Lord to reveal himself more and more to your soul; ask him to lead you directly to himself that you may find more intimacy with him than ever before. What gifts do you have for the King of Kings? Continue to give him your life, your children, your talents and your love. How can you be even more generous with the Lord? Let today be a new manifestation to your mind and heart of God’s great majesty. He loves you more than anyone else ever could. We rejoice for the Son of God has come!
PRAYER: Dearest Jesus, you revealed yourself to the world and you placed a star in the sky to guide the magi to you. Help me always to look to you for that same guidance; fill my heart with generosity, prayer, and love that I may truly seek you all the days of my life.
