For All the Saints

“Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.”

As mothers, we know about longing.

We have longed to be blessed with children. We have longed to see them delivered safely at birth and come home safely after dark. And when they have been taken too early, we long to hold them in our arms once more.

October is Infant Loss Awareness month, and it seems especially fitting this All Saints Day to remember these children who are surely held close to the bosom of our Lord, free from the hardship of this world.

With them, we are part of a great multitude—the communion of saints—which stretches from heaven to earth and back again. Together, we sing in an unending chorus of praise for our Lord. On earth, we rejoice with gladness at the reward that awaits us in heaven where the merciful will be shown mercy, the meek will inherit the land, and those who mourn will be comforted.

May our longing hearts be soothed with your face, O Lord, and may our mourning be comforted as we remember our beloved departed.

  • This blesses my soul to see my Kiran on this list – my beloved Hormillosa son that played such a huge role in the story of how God has worked in my heart, and of how the story of love keeps unfolding in our family.
–Each name causes rings of heavenly love!!!

  • Beautiful, Emily, thank you!!
“Quietly, peacefully, may they rest in You. Quietly, peacefully, bring them home to You.”

  • Thanks Emily! And for your brother or sister that we will meet one day, God willing, in heaven. He or she taught me much about the plans God has for my life! Love you, Mom.
