This time of year, I am always in need of some overdue care in some way or another. It can be hard to find the time to even brush my hair some days. The task of getting a haircut or my hair colored, which for me takes hours, isn’t a luxury busy moms have very often. So, in times like this, I just need a little refresh to soften my hair and moisturize my scalp. This hair mask is easy and quick to make and is so beneficial. There are only a few ingredients needed: coconut oil (which penetrates the cortex of the hair to improve strength and protect hair from damage and dryness); essential oils (I recommend lavender: it smells lovely and soothes, nourishes, and conditions the scalp while also offering relaxation properties); and rosemary essential oil (which has antioxidant properties and can help with blood flow to the scalp as well as prevent both premature graying and dandruff). After applying this mask, your hair will be super soft, shiny, and healthy. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1⁄4 cup – coconut oil, warmed
- 5 drops – pure lavender essential oil
- 3 drops – pure rosemary essential oil
*You can divide this recipe in half for short hair.
Directions
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, then apply to damp or dry hair. Comb through hair and let oil sit for 20-45 minutes before rinsing. You may also shampoo if desired.
I can’t wait to try this. I desperately need to pamper my scalp and give my hair a lift. I never even heard of a hair mask before, but it sounds like just the thing.
