A homemade brie en croûte with added fillings brings flair! It can be flavored with something delicious, specifically suited to round out the menu for your next holiday occasion. You can try sweet or savory toppings alike. Try a pâte brisée recipe or pick up a store-bought puff pastry to have on your side.

Ingredients

  • Round of brie
  • Packaged frozen puff pastry or batch of pâte brisée

Choose one of the following toppings

  • Pesto
  • Olive tapenade
  • Rosemary or chili oil
  • Preserves
  • Nuts, dried fruit, & honey
  • Sun-dried tomatoes & fresh basil (chopped)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400˚.

Now, simply unroll and wrap. On a floured surface, unroll the two puff pastry squares and trim to make circles. On a parchment-lined baking sheet, place the round of brie on one of the pastry circles. Position the second pastry circle on top while pressing the pastry directly against the cheese and bottom pastry. Trim the pastry, leaving an enclosed border around the cheese. Whisk an egg wash together and lightly brush it across the top of the dough.

Now, it is time to bake and partake. Bake in the oven until the pastry is puffed and golden, about 18-20 minutes. Let the cheese cool for 5-10 minutes, then transfer to a serving plate and enjoy!
